Study Trips Structure
Renowned academics in Central Europe, in Latin America and in Asia have teamed up with the Louvain School of Management, the Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX) and the chambers of commerce to design a specific programme focused on conducting global business in these regions. Each of the three two-week study trips abroad will be structured as follows.

Week 1 Day  Programme  Format
1 Welcome by the AWEX Attaché and introductory sessions: the country/region economic, business, social, cultural and legal systems. How to communicate and behave.
2 Local sourcing management

The five days following Day 1 will have the same dynamics: a group accompanied by one or more experts (faculty or consultant) will

1 > visit a company and meet with management
2 > conduct an in-group evaluation or discussion with experts
3 > revisit the company and debrief with management
3 Local logistics management

4 Local manufacturing management

5 Export management (Day 1)

Week 2 6 Export management (Day 2)

7-8 Getting a grip on the country: experimental learning exercise Small groups with a translator will evaluate and communicate with local systems, s.a. education, health management, retail, transportation, followed by final group feedback.
9-10 AWEX Export mission: meeting companies and prospects, based on your interests and your company’s export projects You will make individual tailor-made company visits. You may be accompanied by staff members from your company.

During these two-week periods, evenings will be dedicated to networking events with local Executive MBA students and alumni, local business executives, local chambers of commerce and the Belgian and European communities of expatriates.

Needless to say, these focused international immersions carry high professional value.

Working with a world-renowned partner institution, you will gain insight and experience in cultural and social adjustment and in cutting-edge business practices.

You will build new skills in the main activities you could face in a foreign country, such as sourcing/logistics, manufacturing, and exporting.

You will be exposed to business environments and practices in rapidly expanding countries and you will be given the opportunity to establish international contacts of immediate benefit to your company.

You will learn to manage all the topics necessary for doing business in the prospected countries by

  • developing contacts with the embassy, AWEX, the chamber of commerce, local Belgian managers, ...
  • developing contacts with the main potential customers of your company
  • building experience in how to present your company to these customers
