    The university is relaunched in the newly independent Belgium as Unversité catholique de Louvain.

  • 1897

    Foundation of the School of Commercial and Consular Sciences (Ecole de Sciences Commericales et Consulaires) at the University of Louvain.

    Restructure as the School of Business (Ecole supérieure de Commerce) within the University.

  • 1955

    Creation of the Center for Management Studies (Centre de perfectionnement dans la direction des entreprises) within the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.

  • 1975

    Reorganization into the IAG School of Management (Institut d’Administration et de Gestion) with the Faculty of Economics, Social and Political Sciences.

  • 1989

    LSM becomes first and only Belgian member of the prestigious CEMS alliance, offering the CEMS Master in Management, frequently ranked top-3 in Financial Times ranking.

  • 1990

    Becomes first and only Belgian member of the PIM (Partnership in International Management) network, founded by NEC Paris, NYU and London Business School (LBS). Today 60 top management schools that are truly devoted to international management form an strong network for exchange of students and faculty.

    Louvain School of Management takes its name and becomes an autonomous department within the University.

  • 2006

    Accreditation EQUIS & launch of the International Executive MBA.

  • 2009

    CEMS programme of LSM ranked #1 in Financial Times.

  • 2010

    Louvain School of Management becomes an independent university faculty with professor Alain VAS as first Dean.

  • 2011

    LSM Master in Business Engineering is #1 in Belgium in Financial Times ranking.

    LSM merges with the management department of the FUCAM university, opening a second campus in Mons.

  • 2013

    LSM Business School ranked among the top-50 Business Schools worldwide and is #1 in Belgium with 5 Palmes by the 2013 Eduniversal ranking for our international reputation, programmes and achievements.

  • 2014

    LSM organizes the CEMS Annual Event in Belgium, including the graduation for all CEMS MIM students (3000 guests).

    International recognition: LSM is again #1 in Belgium in 2014 Eduniversal ranking, as a Business School and for the International Executive MBA programme.

    LSM once again #1 in Belgium and #5 in the world in Entrepreneurship, our International Executive MBA is #1 in Belgium.

    LSM students win several business school prizes: : the Henkel Innovation Challenge, the Baltic Market Award, the Clean Tech Challenge (LBS), HEC Business Game (HEC Paris), the L’Oréal Brandstorm, Solvay Business Game.

    LSM has been renewed for 3 years the prestigious label EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System), certifying the excellence and quality of its teaching and research.

    LSM is the only Belgian Business School who received 5 Palms of execellence at the 2016 Eduniversal World convention.

    LSM won the CEMS Course of the Year award for the Global Management Practice course « Cross Cultural Competence and Management ».

  • 2017

    LSM is confirmed as Belgium’s Best Business School, with 5 « palms of excellence » and a recommendation rate by the peers of 51,4% (a huge progression), at the 10th World Eduniversal Conference held in Dubai. The 10th promotion of the LSM IEMBA graduate in October. The CEMS-Master in Management given by LSM has been ranked 9th in the Master in Management Worldwide Rankings by The Economist. There is no other master in management offered in Belgium included in this ranking, limited to 50 programs worldwide. LSM obtains the endowed Kronos Group Chair in Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, recruiting Prof. Constantin BLOME from University of Sussex.
