Educational Approach

Core Course Methodology

The core courses balance theoretical highlights, case studies and role-playing. Interactive sessions (for some topics) will challenge participants in decision-making situations.

Continuous assessment

Your progress will be assessed based on :

  • In-class participation, case study solutions and presentations
  • Graded written assignments and essays
  • Possibly, a written open book, case-based examination
  • Towards the end of the end of the program, you will develop a final project, leading to a written report and a presentation to the project committee

Personal professional skills

Soft skills are being fostered throughout the program. Some courses address specific skills :

  • Interactive teaching builds on the participant's personal experience
  • Case studies allow participants to practice leadership in the formulation of a strategic decision and to follow a specific action plan
  • Specific soft-skill courses include team building, leadership, negotiation and conflict management, innovation & creativity, cross cultural management, coaching.
  • The learning environment of the Louvain School of Management provides full access to the University's information resources (libraries, IT infrastructure, iCampus, ...) and cultural opportunities.
  • Networking is stimulated through contacts with business practitioners lecturing in the program, executive classmate, exchange with MBA classes from partner universities, alumni (through the LSM MBA Alumni Association) and during the international study-trips, contacts with local and expatriate executives, AWEX representatives, high-ranking Belgian and foreign officials, etc ...

Final Paper

Your Final paper will require you to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the program. With coaching by the LSM faculty, you will solve a concrete managerial problem, linked to your activity in your company or organization or to another business linked to SOPARTEC spin-offs.

The project leads to a Final Paper and a presentation to the Project Committee, who will asess both the written report and the presentation.

Study trips

You will broaden your hands-on international experience during three one week study-trips in the BRIC countries: one to Hungary (Corvinus University, Budapest), one to Sao Paulo (Fundação Getulio Vargas) and one to Shanghai (Jiaotong University).
